The compost/dung spreader is used for delivering and distributing of solid dung, resulting from outdoor cattle husbandry. The dung is shredded beforehand into smaller pieces by a combination of movable knives. The scraper floor consists of lateral ledges bound with running tracks for the transport of the solid dung to the end of the trailer. There, the dung is spread evenly through fine-spreading rotors with mill blades or plates on the field. Most commonly, the spreader mechanism can be removed, thus allowing other uses for the trailer when not used for fertilizer spreading. There are two types of dung spreaders: alpine dung spreaders for rugged terrain and standard dung spreaders for even terrain. The latter obviously allows a significantly greater load weight.
